A belated welcome to 2019

The year began with intense work preparing for a guest lecture at Columbia Business School’s Chazen Institute for Global Immersion. I spoke to a class of MBA students about Cuba’s economy, including the challenges, opportunities and sectors most viable for economic growth. I’ve never spoken to a more engaged and lively audience – what a way to start the year!

I’m now knee-deep in research for a reporting trip that will take me back to Japan early April. When I was last there in 2017, I covered Womenomics and goals for greater work-life balance among both genders, as well as the U.S. military presence on Okinawa. I can’t wait to re-visit some of these themes and learn about the progress being made. Meeting with female entrepreneurs is high on my list.

But, before I head East, I’ll travel to Croatia at the end of March to speak to young professionals and entrepreneurs at the Leap Summit Zagreb about how to find their story.
